VUGATE, a subsidiary of BEI Communications, Stafford, Texas, is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas,  and was founded in December, 1999 as the result of the acquisition of Datapoint Corporation's Video Communications Business.  Datapoint was a pioneer in video communications, having developed and deployed the industry's first desktop videoconferencing units in 1985.  BEI Communications, a reseller/integrator of videoconferencing, CCTV, and security systems for more than 20 years, brings a wealth of experience in the security and surveillance market to VUGATE, specifically utilizing unique fiber optic technologies.

VUGATE acquired all of Datapoint's patented video communications technologies, along with all inventory and assets associated with the video business group.  VUGATE has also secured the employment of Datapoint's top resources in video for engineering, manufacturing, sales, service, and administration.    As a result, VUGATE has one of the finest teams of video/multimedia experts in the industry.  This, coupled with the expertise in fiber optics, video communications and security applications provided by BEI, allows VUGATE to offer some of the most comprehensive products and services in the industry.

The products offered by VUGATE include a complete suite of Multipoint Video PBX products, as well as a full line of ISDN and IP based digital video communications products, and all the associated video devices and peripherals needed for the desktop/workspace, group system environments, classrooms, and integrated conference room requirements.  In addition, VUGATE offers the complete line of security and surveillance products including state-of-the-art fiber optic perimeter fence technologies.
